Product development: Served as principal engineer for the design, programming, and fabrication of controls for an automated shipboard pipeline welding system. The PLC based system managed action of the welders as well as movement of pipe along the continuous welding conveyor system.
The conveyor's motion control logic interfaced with the ship's dynamic positionng system to sync the ship's speed and direction with the pipeline production rate. The system used redundant PLC processors and input-output components to provide a fault-tolerant control system.
