Patient Monitoring Medical Device
Patent infringement: low power medical device used for bed patient monitoring. The invention monitored patient presence, motion, and other physical attributes to detect undesired movement. Low power and tamper-proof aspects were key to the device that operated long term on minimal battery power to provide both local and remote indication of undesired patent activity.
Key issues were the novel methods and apparatus for battery power management including standby, power-up, and intermittent sleep mode for a device having no user-accessible power switch. The technology found in PIC processors and other low-power microcontrollers was disclosed.
